January 31, 2018 By Jon Stewart Leave a Comment

The most popular and widely used web browser is Google Chrome. Chrome comes up with more common issues that the other internet browsers available in the market. And Chrome Installation Failed Due to Unspecified Error is another name in the list of such errors. No matter whether you are using a Mac device or a Windows computer, if you encounter the most common problem, you can check out the solution methods below.

Chrome Installation Failed Due to Unspecified Error

Multiple Reasons for the Chrome Installation Failed Due to Unspecified Error

Check out the possible reasons for the issue you are encountering in your Google Chrome browser-

  1. Your Google Chrome setup is infected
  2. Windows broken Registry files can cause the problem
  3. Outdated or incompatible Google Chrome setup can cause the problem
  4. Your antivirus software can block installation file

In these cases, follow the methods I have given in the below sections and resolve the problem in no time!

Open Command Prompt-Chrome Installation Failed Due to Unspecified Error

From your Windows computer, you can open the command prompt option to resolve the issue. Try these steps-

  • Search for the command prompt option from the start menu or simply press Windows key+ R together to open the run box
  • Right click on the command prompt icon and open with Administrative Privileges
  • After that, open the installation files you have downloaded earlier
  • The installation file of Chrome generally looks like “Chromesetup.exe”
  • Try to begin the installation process

If this method does not work, please follow the next one.

Reset Network Configuration

We need to use command prompt again, follow the steps below-

  • Open the installation files with Administrative Privileges just like the method above
  • After that, go to the System32 folder and navigate to the path C:\WINDOWS\system32>
  • Type: netsh and press Enter
  • Next, type: Winsock reset and press Enter
  • A new message will appear where you will have to reboot your system immediately
  • Exit the command prompt and reboot your system

Apply the next method if this process does not help.

Fix Chrome Registry

This method will work only when your Chrome is already installed on your device. You have to clean all Google Chrome components from your computer in this process. I would recommend you to use Google Chrome Cleanup Tool for an easy solution.

  1. Start Windows run first
  2. And enter regedit
  3. Now navigate to the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER>>Software>>Google
  4. Delete the Google folder
  5. Again open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>Software>>Google and delete the folder again
  6. Now go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>Software>>Wow6432Node>>Google path and again for once delete the Google folder
  7. Do not delete anything else other than the Google folder
  8. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>SOFTWARE>>Google>>Update>>Clients path
  9. Look for {430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D} entry under the Client folder
  10. Right-click on it and press delete
  11. Right-click on the GoogleUpdate.exe file and delete it then restart your computer and check if the problem is solved or not.

These are very easy solution process and you can perform them in a few time span to resolve the Google chrome error. If you have any other solution regarding the same, please tell us so in the comment box below.
